Sub Domain Names

Our domain hosting services include the ability to create domains subordinate to your SLD.  For example we use domains.webmarketingnorthwest.com to host our domain sales.

Things to know before you choose an HTML editor, or build a subdomain.

If you use Microsoft FrontPage to build your web site you may want to install Frontpage Extensions from your control panel.  Frontpage extensions have a bad habit of becoming corrupt and requiring removal and reinstallation to work correctly.  If you choose to create a subdomain and install Frontpage Extensions in the subdomain, should the extensions become corrupt elsewhere in your domain, the subdomain extensions must be removed and reinstalled to correct the problem.

Typically when Frontpage extensions become corrupt and must be reinstalled, the site must be republished to ensure the complete functionality originally intended.  Thus it is critical that you have a complete backup of your live site as well as a development version of the site from which to republish.

Microsoft Frontpage 2003 v 6 is the last version of the program which will be replaced by Microsoft SharePoint Designer and Microsoft Expression Web Designer.  It is unclear at this time whether Frontpage extensions will be useful or desirable for sites created with the new tools.
